Since Croatian firefighting has been based on the voluntary work of its members from the very beginning, the Croatian-Slavonian firefighting Association has introduced a system of honoring firefighters through decorations. The first Croatian fire decorations were founded in 1891. Even today, meritorious firefighters are awarded medals, and the greatest honors in modern Croatian firefighting are named after Gjuro Stjepan Deželić and Mirko Kolarić.
Along with the medals, this collection contains almost 300 firefighter badges, issued on the occasion of high anniversaries or other events relevant to the work of firefighters.
